Lex Mak.
Formally trained as an Architect, Lex graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Masters of Architecture (1st Hons), He spent over ten years cultivating his creative interests working for award winning design firms in Australia before founding STUDIO L.M in Hong Kong; An interior design practice specialising in F&B interiors including coffee shops, restaurants and retail spaces.
Lex has also created numerous F&B brands over the years. He is passionate and well informed about the industry from multiple angles enabling deep creative responses with exceptional hospitality sensitivity.
Successful projects are delivered with a strong vision and are conceptually driven with a distinctive eye for style and detail.
Lex is also an avid collector vintage & modern designer furniture and founded Curatēd; a Furniture & Lifestyle outpost
in 2025.
Founded in early 2014. MR. GUMBATRON began as a creative outlet for its founder Lex Mak, an Architect, entrepreneur and self-confessed coffee connoisseur who always valued the importance of dressing well.
This creative exploration has since evolved into the personal lifestyle brand MR. GUMBATRON; which seeks to inspire the modern man to always put his best foot forward. Lex has an acute eye for style and creative composition; His fascination into structure, materiality and texture extends beyond Architecture and into the world of fashion & photography.
Lex has since gained a notable following on Instagram for sharing his unique perspective on luxury, lifestyle and design.
Living by his personal motto, “Dress well. Drink well. Live well”, along with his unique style, aesthetic and influence has led him to working with brands such as Aston Martin, Aesop, Leica, GQ Mr Porter, LVMH, Jaeger-Le-Coultre, The Macallan and more.
