Softer Volumes: Cafés

Looking for a beautifully curated and visual coffee table book for coffee enthusiasts, design buffs and architecture lovers? Look no further than Softer Volumes: Cafés, Created by Softer Volumes; a publication exploring purposeful contemporary design and enriching travel experiences.

Softer Volumes aims to enhance the lives of those who appreciate quality over quantity and a balanced lifestyle. With a discerning approach, Mr Gumbatron has been long time fans on the blog and publication, I find myself on a journey of discovery and always end up being inspired organically through their showcasing of interiors, destinations, objects and creative personalities. Softer Volumes is a soul enriching way to spend any amount of time, especially for those interested in all things design and lifestyle.

So when Co-founder and Creative Director of Nicholas V reached out to ask me to help contribute to their first physical publication, I felt honoured and agreed to undertake the responsibility, as an Architect who designs cafes professionally and someone who can name a cafe from a photography of the interior, or more impressively from a flat-lay of the coffee on the table (I analyse the cup brand, cutlery design, finishing of the table, floors and the style of lighting) I felt like I had a unique eye and perspective on the topic.

In good company, amazing contributors were involved.

Softer Volumes: Cafés is a luxurious coffee table book exhibiting beautifully-designed cafés around the world. From award winning contemporary interiors to charmingly minimal spaces for enjoying a great cup of coffee, this 350-page hardcover book features over 290 recommendations from around the world (you may even come across your local).

Printed and case-bound in Australia featuring a natural fabric cover with de-bossed foil lettering, its a handsome looking book and will style perfectly on your living room coffee table. Best enjoyed when you are seeking that softer, & slower moment, perhaps with a cup of coffee in hand.

In addition to stunning photography by some of the world’s best architecture and interior photographers, each café feature includes key information such as details on the design of the space—including who it was designed by and the inspiration behind it—as well as notes on the atmosphere and focus of the menu.

Handpicked the editors and contributors, 100 cafés are showcased with stunning imagery, with an additional 190 in text. At the end of each region’s section there is the list of additional recommendations, providing suggestions of more design-focused cafés and specialty coffee shops to visit on your next trip or in your own city.

The publication further comes in an environmentally friendly or travel friendly option in the form of a premium digital book. The e-book features 350 inspiring pages with stunning photography by some of the world’s best architecture and interior photographers.
